What is on my roof?
The black stains and streaks on your roof are actually caused by a mold called gloeocapsa magma.
These spores were likely carried from a neighbor’s roof to yours by the wind or small animals, such
as birds or squirrels. Mold, like any living thing, needs water and a food source to survive. The
limestone in your shingle provides the food source and it can usually find water on the north side
(where the sun doesn’t hit as directly) or shaded areas of your roof. The black streaks are actually
a hard U.V. protective coating that the mold creates over time.

Is the cleaning treatment harmful to my roof?
This mold is much more than just an eyesore! Gloeocapsa magma destroys the integrity of your shingle
by eating the limestone, which is added to provide weight to your shingle. The U.V protective coating
also lessens the reflective qualities of your shingles, causing them to retain heat and prematurely deteriorate.
This makes it significantly harder and more expensive to cool your home. The experts at A.R.M.A.
(The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association) estimate that if left untreated, gloeocapsa magma will reduce
the life of your shingle by 50%.

Will you use a pressure washer to clean my roof?
Absolutely not! Even washing at a “low” pressure setting with a pressure washer will do far more damage than the mold could ever do.
We apply our chemicals and simply rinse them off with a garden hose.

Will the chemicals used to clean my roof damage my landscaping?
No. We go to great measures to protect your flowers, lawn, plants, etc by watering before, during, and after the application process.
This dillutes and washes off any excess chemicals to ensure no harm is done to them.

How long does the roof cleaning process take?
Roof cleaning can usually be done in less than 2 hours, but it can vary depending on size, pitch, and severity of discoloration.

How long will it take to see results?
Immediately! Your roof will look brand new by the time we leave your home.

Do I need to be home at the time of the roof cleaning?
No. Just make sure that animals are inside and gates are unlocked so we can access a water spigot.

Will the solution damage my shingles?
Not at all. Cleaning your roof will not effect your shingle warranty. We use the solution recommended by Owens Corning and GAF,
the top 2 roofing manufacturers, as well as A.R.M.A.

How long will my roof stay clean?
We offer a 2 year 100% warranty but it is very likely that your roof will stay clean much longer.
